A Festival Weekend Between Görlitz and Zgorzelec
Getting to Görlitz required a little patience at first. Traffic jams, heavy traffic and the roadworks on the A4 made the journey more tiring than expected. But once we finally arrived and immersed ourselves in the lively atmosphere of the Old Town Festival, that part of the trip was quickly forgotten. Sunny, warm weather and a friendly atmosphere provided the perfect setting for the entire weekend. ☀️ For us, the time spent with family and friends was at the heart of it all. Between the stalls, the diverse culinary offerings and the bustling streets, there was exactly the kind of blend that makes a city festival so enjoyable: lively, yet at the same time welcoming and down-to-earth. One particularly memorable encounter was meeting Evangelos, the owner of Mediteranos in Görlitz. Unplanned conversations like these often stay with us just as much as the festival programme itself. Alongside the Old Town Festival, we also visited the Jakuby Festival in Zgorzelec. That weekend, the two festivals came together as one shared urban experience. It showed how much events like these thrive on encounters, culinary impressions and people coming together in public spaces. We were especially impressed by Görlitz’s cityscape and its beautifully preserved Art Nouveau buildings. The architecture created an exceptional backdrop for the festival and turned our walk through the city into an experience in its own right. But the weekend was not only about joyful moments. We also visited the graves of T.LIKES.IT’s parents—a quiet and sad moment that had its place on this journey. Joy and remembrance were close together during those days. In the end, we were left with the feeling of having spent a wonderful, deeply personal weekend that was well worth the stressful journey. We will be back soon.
