Between the Salzach, the Old Town and Fortress Walls
Our e-bike tour took us through the heart of Salzburg—along the Salzach, through the Old Town and into the narrow lanes that give the city its distinctive character. The bikes allowed us to experience different sides of Salzburg, stopping whenever we wanted and taking in the atmosphere without any rush. In the city centre, we came across the “Wir bauen Brücken” city festival. Music, crowds and summery city life transformed the streets into a vibrant festival promenade. It was this blend of historic surroundings and open, modern cultural life that made the day so varied. Linzer Gasse was another defining stop on our tour. Historic façades, small shops and cafés shape the character of the street, with views extending towards Kapuzinerberg. It was one of those places where we naturally slowed down and simply let ourselves drift for a while. After our tour through the city, a detour to Hohensalzburg Fortress was a must. High above the rooftops, views opened up across Salzburg, the Salzach and the surrounding mountains. Among the historic walls, it became clear once again just how closely the city is connected to its history and alpine setting. ⛰️

The route.

Personal note
What stays with us most is the mix of experiences that day: cruising through Salzburg at a relaxed pace on our e-bikes, consciously slowing down in Linzer Gasse and, a little later, finding ourselves in the midst of the lively city festival. The view from the fortress provided a peaceful finale, giving us time to let the many impressions sink in.
