A Birthday, Step by Step
Our day began at the Breitenbergbahn near Pfronten. From there, we set off on foot and hiked all the way up to the Ostlerhütte. Ahead of us lay a long hike that demanded stamina from the very first section. The sun accompanied us, Lou was with us, and with every metre of ascent, our shared destination drew closer. The climb required patience and perseverance. This was no quick birthday outing, but a route we had to earn step by step. That was precisely what made this day so special: being outdoors, finding our own rhythm, and continuing together even when we could already feel the effort in our legs. When we reached the Ostlerhütte, we were able to enjoy the view of the Allgäu mountains. After the long climb, that moment did not feel like something to take for granted. It was the result of the distance we had covered, the ascent we had overcome, and our decision to complete the entire route under our own power. We took no shortcut on the way back either, descending all the way into the valley on foot. At the end, we were left with the fatigue of a demanding hike—and the memory of a birthday that suited us perfectly. No grand production, just sunshine, mountain air, Lou by our side, and the wonderful feeling of having reached the top together.

Route
The route.
The hike started at the Breitenbergbahn near Pfronten. From there, the route led entirely on foot up to the Ostlerhütte on the Breitenberg. After reaching our destination, we also completed the entire descent back into the valley on foot.
Personal note
When we think back on this birthday, we remember above all the long route, our tired legs, and the feeling of having reached the Ostlerhütte together. The fact that Lou was with us and the sun accompanied us throughout the day still makes this hike special to us.
