When the Weather Changes the Plan
The day was meant for a bike tour together. But with snowfall and temperatures of 2°C, May suddenly felt like winter. The conditions were not right, so we decided against cycling and loaded the bikes onto the car instead. From Hahnenkamm Hostel, we headed towards Seefeld in Tirol. Our planned bike tour would have taken us past Heiterwanger See. We wanted to take the opportunity to have a closer look at the campsite there—as a possible base for future bike tours with an overnight stay in a tent. ⛺ Even without the bike tour, Heiterwanger See remained a special place with its turquoise-blue water, mountains and tranquillity. The Thaneller rose in the background—and with it came the idea for another hiking tour together. The planned bike tour is still waiting. We want to return to this area.

Route
The route.
Due to snowfall, temperatures of 2°C and poor cycling conditions, the planned bike tour did not take place. The bikes were transported on the car. We set off from Hahnenkamm Hostel towards Seefeld in Tirol. The originally planned cycling route would have taken us past Heiterwanger See.
Personal note
What stays with us is a wintry day in May when the bikes remained on the car. Instead, we took time to enjoy Heiterwanger See, the campsite and the view towards the Thaneller. A beautiful area—we will be back.
