Tour report
Through the Hinterautal to the Source of the Isar
We started at the car park by Mittenwald railway station and set off from there on our E-bikes towards the Hinterautal valley. With every kilometre, everyday life faded further into the background. Gravel beneath our tyres, fresh mountain air and the silence between the towering rock faces defined the ride. The crystal-clear river that accompanied us through this extraordinary landscape was particularly impressive. At times, it felt as though we were no longer travelling through the familiar Alpine region, but somewhere in Canada. The atmosphere was immense and overwhelming. At the source of the Isar, we reached the defining moment of this tour. After a break, the loop took us back to the car park at Mittenwald railway station. A beautiful bike tour that will stay with us for a long time.
Moment
„Crystal-clear water, towering rock faces and the feeling of being somewhere in Canada for a moment.“
Route
The route.
The E-bike loop starts and ends at the car park by Mittenwald railway station. From there, the route leads into the Karwendel mountains, through the Hinterautal valley and to the source of the Isar, before returning to the starting point in Mittenwald.
Personal note
The ride into the Hinterautal valley and the moment at the source of the Isar made this tour particularly special for us. A beautiful bike tour that we would happily ride again anytime and readily recommend.
