Tour report
When May Turned Back into Winter
Our original plan was to reach Seefeld in Tirol on two wheels. It was meant to be a multi-day cycling tour, but wintry weather turned it into a different kind of trip at short notice. We travelled by car – with the bikes on the trailer behind us – and embraced the chance to experience the town without a set route. Although it was already May, temperatures hovered around freezing and snow kept falling. The atmosphere felt more like winter than spring. This was precisely what gave Seefeld its special sense of calm: cold air, short distances and the Wetterstein Mountains rising in the background. We stayed at Chalet Sonneneck, right in Seefeld’s pedestrian zone. From there, everything was within walking distance, even the ski lift. And so, the cancelled cycling tour became a slower-paced stay in the heart of town – different from what we had planned, but with plenty of time to get to know Seefeld. Seefeld revealed itself to us as a beautiful town with plenty to offer. Even though this trip did not unfold in the way we had originally imagined, one thing remained clear: we will be back.
Moment
„The snow changed our plans – but not the joy of discovering Seefeld.“
Route
The route.
The focus was a relaxed city tour through Seefeld in Tirol. From Chalet Sonneneck in the pedestrian zone, the town and even the ski lift were within walking distance.
Personal note
We had originally imagined Seefeld as a stop on a multi-day cycling tour. In the end, we remember snow in May, cold air and a town we would gladly allow more time for on our next visit. We will certainly return next winter to go skiing.
